Globalization’s New Twist: An Energy Revolution and a Pandemic Reset the Stage

In the United States, two shale booms happened—one in gas and then oil. They were feats of technology, entrepreneurial grit and necessity, with Texas an epicenter. Infrastructure networks shapeshifted and grew to accommodate the hydrocarbon supply growth.

Global energy rivalries emerged. And now, the U.S. is a major global energy exporter, offering more choice in energy sourcing.

As globalization marched on, green ambitions morphed into a global decarbonization drive. Then, a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic covered the globe.

Reindustrialization Texas-Style

In the Texas Triangle, a circular economy play emerges

Now, modernization and innovation and their requirements are pushing growth differently. In the Texas Triangle, from Austin/San Antonio to Dallas/Fort Worth to Houston—a high-growth area of many years, a model development of reindustrialization highlights how the next decades of globalization may look. It’s creative destruction, environmental and corporate stewardship, and circular economy mixed together. Thoughtful resource allocation is key.
